That is to create a new folder on disk and have it appear in my folder list. I go through all the options but what YAM comes back with never makes any sense to me.

Going through the motions. I select New Folder from the context menu. Whatever I chose here I give the folder a name in the next window but YAM doesn't create it for me. At least it doesn't fill in the path for me. So I create it myself and stick it in place. When I exit YAM tells me that the file or directory already exists. Huh? It didh't create it or offer to so why is it telling me that? And why doesn't it create a folder for me? I simply want to enter a name for a folder and have YAM create the folder and add it to my folder list as specified. Is this simple operation possible? :-?

Next one. Which really doesn't make any sense. If I tell YAM to use an existing directory. The path is filled in. And I enter a name. I exit and YAM tells me that the file or directory already exists. What?! Of course it exists, I told you to use an existing directory! In this case if I tell YAM what to do why does it come back asking me stupid questions? It should know better!
Topic thboeckel Mon, 04 Jul 2011 13:22:30 GMT Reply #22 to topic #9 - How do I create a new folder on disk? http://yam.ch/discussion/message/22#message_22 http://yam.ch/discussion/message/22#message_22

I select New Folder from the context menu. If that is the case then I know what is going wrong. First of all, you either must enter a path for the folder yourself or select an existing directory and answer the question about the already existing directory with "yes, use it". The current version checks a wrong path and always ends up with the "already exists" requester, even if no path was entered at all.

You might want to try the next nightly build of YAM which has this bug fixed.

Which really doesn't make any sense. YAM cannot know if the selected directory has been created right before (either in a Shell, or via the file requester, or how ever) and of course should ask the user for confirmation. You might have chosen a wrong directory by accident without noticing it.
Message
