Well, unfortunately not. The Author seem to have decided against opening ALL sources under an open source license. He just provided the core khtml part that was already under the LGPL license. However, for a proper port and an integration into a generalized MCC we would definitly require to have full access to the whole sources. In addition, all the development needs to move to a public source respositroy like sf.net for an open source project like YAM to contribute as much as possible.

But like it has been so often in the past, the author seem to have decided against opening the sources (for whatever reason that might be). We really would have loved to contribute to that promising KHTML port and wanted to do the MCC integration. But as the main sources are kept closed source we have no chance to help the author nor do we currently see any chance of putting the KHTML functionality into any future version of YAM.

So I am sorry, but the current plan still is to finish the porting of htmlview.mcc and use that instead in a future version of YAM. However, if the author of the KHTML port will decide at some point in the future to put his whole sources and development somewhere publically available (e.g. sourceforge.net) then we will definitly reconsider that decision.

Sadly I understand what you say, altrough to be honest I was hoping that with the actual source would been possible to make something like a MUI class ... so i'll write this post.

Maybe one day Marcik could change its politics about the source, altrough at the time i'm only hope that we could have a native version of Sputnik also for OS4 soon, maybe via bounty, who know ;-)

Regarding your actual plan, is there any news about HTMLView.mcc ? Years passed with no news

Thanks for your replay, bye

    @Damato

Sputnik is ready but the MUI class sadly not, now my question is:

Is it possible to create easly a MUI class with the current Sputnik's source ?

    http://www.ppa.pl/khtml/

Sure it would be cool if we can have Sputnik browser first for OS3/OS4 ...

Sure, if an .mcc class will already be present at the time of the release and of course we also need versions for AmigaOS4 and AmigaOS3, I would definitly consider using such a khtml.mcc instead of the still to be adapted htmlview.mcc class.

Off course, at the moment Marcik still working on the KHTML Nokia WebCore only for MorphOS, both MCC Class (i think) and Sputnik (the name of his new small web browser for testing the webpages)

(And yes, it is alive - on my harddisk - I 'just' need to get it ported to GCC and PPC.)

Good, any advice about the release date ? :-)

Is the development of this khtml port already hosted somewhere? I mean can I already have a look at the source code? This would definitly be mandatory because then I may can have a look at it in advance.

No at the moment, this is because Marcik prefer to complete the porting alone, but off course when it's done anyone can bring the source and compile it for various Amiga platform

    Read here: http://www.ppa.pl/khtml/index_en.php

    Bye

I think that we can have a better choice for the HTML in Yam, and not in one or two years but in the immediate future, why ?

Using the upcoming KHTML MUI-Class instead the old HTMLView (is this class alive ?)

Marcik (the author of the KHTML engine) go very quickly so i hope that we can use it in 2-4 months !

What do you think about ?

Another question, i read at the "future planes page" that you have the intention to support simplehtml.library in the future release

Do you think that the simplehtml.library support will come with Yam 2.5 final or later ?

Sorry, but our roadmap has slightly changed such as HTML read support is planned for the next 2.6 version which in fact will not arrive until next year. In addition, as the sources of HTMLview.mcc are recovered now and will be available soon under a LGPL project on sf.net, I guess YAM will use HTMLview.mcc in future for HTML reading capabilities.

So, sorry again. But our development time/resources are really limited right now so that we won't manage to introduce HTML reading already in 2.5.

But please keep up with us, we are really approaching a state in YAM developemnt where we can introduce new feature more quickly in future as most of the old sources were already nearly rewritten from scratch.

So please keep up your testing of the nightly builds and report us bugs if you find some. Only this way we can more quickly progress to a stable 2.5 release this summer.

    Ok

There isn't any particular date where we are planing to release the official 2.5. However, we do have plans to release it somewhere this summer. But until then there are still some bunch of bugs and changes that needs to be addressed. But I am confident we can manage it this summer and release 2.5.
