YAM - Yet Another Mailer (#2) - Efficiently saving attachments (#85) - Message List

Efficiently saving attachments
 solved

Hi,

There is a feature that I have not seen in other emailers but there may be a way to do it in YAM that I haven't thought of:

When someone sends an email with a photo attached, sometimes I want to keep the email so I can easily reference it (and maybe reply later on). However, if they attach a photo (for example, a JPEG) and I save the email in a folder, doesn't the email take up a much larger space than necessary because the attachment is stored in base64 or whatever.

So maybe I'm looking for

  • a way to delete attachments from received email or
  • YAM to save attachments in their binary format

Or is it that YAM does store attachments in their binary format ?

you can delete all attachments from a specific mail and just keep the letter part of it. Thus you can save disk space by cropping all attachments of a mail...

Yes, that's what I'm looking for, thanks.

I dunno if I understand your request correctly. But in fact this is already possible with YAM. There is already a feature "crop attachments" in YAM, where you can delete all attachments from a specific mail and just keep the letter part of it. Thus you can save disk space by cropping all attachments of a mail.

So just have a loo for the "Crop" feature of YAM.
