YAM - Yet Another Mailer (#2) - Subject and date not shown in transfer window (#8) - Message List

Subject and date not shown in transfer window
 unsolved

Hi altogether,

a few days ago I tried to fetch some mails from GMX using YAM via POP3 (IMAP not possible with my free account). The last time I did so is several years ago therefore there are > 35000 mails within my GMX inbox. For this reason GMX already split my inbox into 2 folders which are placed one into another (parent is inbox with > 22000 mails and whithin another folder holding mor than 13000 mails).

In the past I used AOS3.9 and version 2.5 (68060, nightly build IMHO) in order to fetch mails from GMX. Later on I switched to an AOS4 version (2.6p1). My experiences in the past were that YAM gathers the inbox information from GMX, checks for duplicates and displays the number and the size of the mails within the transfer window. Afterwards I already could start transferring or choose to wait until subject and date of delivery were also shown (which could take quite a while).

But now, regardless whether I start my old YAM AOS3.9 installation or a correct configured AOS4 one only number and size of the mails are showno man (and not all mails) but no matter how long I wait the subject and delivery dates are not shown at all!

I really need these since I only want to download some older mails but not all of them! Within the settings I have "preselection" set to "always" and not to "always, sizes only"! Is there anything I can do in order to see what mails I'm about to download?

Many thanks in advance and

Best Regards

I can only tell that this is working for me, just checked it with both YAM 2.6p1 and YAM 2.7-dev. I always get all infomation about all mails. The only difference is that I have about 15 mails waiting right now instead of lots of thousands.

The disabled state of the "Pause" and "Continue" buttons will give you a hint if YAM is still downloading details about the mails or not. If all details have been received then both buttons will be disabled. In paused mode the details of single mails can be downloaded by double clicking the mail entry.

On Peg2 I got it working as soon as I decreased the number of mails within inbox folder to about 25.000 or less. If there are 30.000 or more it also does not work on Peg2!

BTW: How can I sort all mails by date ascending or descending in transfer window?

Wow, that's interesting. Unfortunately this situation is quite hard to reproduce to investigate further in this respect. So far I have absolutely no clue why there should be any difference between 25000 and 30000 pending mails. Sorry...

That's not possible currently. The mails will be displayed in exactly the same order as the POP3 server provides them. This list is already sorted by "date of arrival", oldest mails being at top.

I will make the preselection list title clickable to allow the mails to be sorted arbitrarily. However, they still will be downloaded in the original order. There is no way around that.
