Edit mail: Filter out non-matching address book entries does not work on similar names

Description

Summary

If you have similar address book entries, non-matching entries may not be filtered out when selecting the correct recipient.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create two address book entries, one with alias "caro", one with alias "carsten".
  2. Edit new mail. Enter "car" in "To:" textfield gadget. All entries but "caro" and "carsten" get filtered out.
  3. Enter "o" to select "caro".
  4. Delete letter "o" with backspace key and hit "s" instead.

Expected results

  1. Entry "carsten" gets filtered out as it worked in previous versions of YAM (2.5 and older).
  2. Entry "caro" gets filtered out.

Actual results

  1. Entry "carsten" stays inside the list. Neither alias nor name nor mail address have any other similarities than the first three characters.
  2. Entry "caro" gets removed from the list of possible recipients.

Regression

No big ones, but it worked in previous version and does not work anymore now. If you have a big address book with similar entries this can be confusing.

I can perfectly reproduce the issue here. As soon as "caro" is entered, "carsten" should be removed from the list. IMHO this should even be fixed for the next upcoming release (2.7). This I'll flagging it for that milestone.

(In [5749]) * mui/AddrmatchlistPopup.c: modified addrmatchlist to also popup in case

only one entry was found. This should help in identifying more easily if
that single entry is the actual right one the user was searching for.

  • mui/Recipientstring.c: modified class to make sure that on every change in the string the addrmatchlist will be updated accordingly resulting in an updated addrmatchlist object. Previously this was only done if the actual text in the string object changed which wasn't the case for all occasions. This fix should close #277.
